Why fly with Glenn?

What should every aspiring pilot know.

Glenn Daly's bio.

1. I love eet. All I ever wanted to do since that first ride in a TWA Constellation in 1952, was fly for a living. I still remember the thrill of my first flight, the delight of my first solo, the sense of accomplishment and pride when I achieved the Private certificate, over thirty years ago. From July of 1997, until October of 1999, I took hundreds of hours of flight instruction and accomplished the following: the IFR rating in November '97; the Commercial certificate in March '98; the Certificated Flight Instructor rating in September '98; the Certificated Flight Instructor Instrument Airplane rating in October '99; the Advanced Ground Instructor rating.

2. I edited and provided additional historical material for the Private Pilot course book "Cleared for Takeoff" that accompanies the Cessna Multimedia Training Program - the private pilot curriculum that is revolutionizing ground school in this country - and the Instrument course book "Cleared for Approach" that accompanies the Cessna Instrument Multimedia Training Program.

3. I have published aviation articles in local and national publications, writing on topics as diverse as Terminal Doppler Weather Radar, go-arounds and missed approaches at SAN, and the crash of a Piper Apache that killed the pilots and their doctor passengers who were flying on a medical mission to Mexico.

4. I have worked closely with John and Martha King, writing scripts for the Cessna projects as well as writing and revising scripts on topics as diverse as emergency procedures, interpreting Jeppesen charts and understanding the weather.

4. For three days I toured the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, arranged for by the FAA's Western-Pacific region.

5. I have been a member of the National Association of Flight Instructors, the only national organization of flight instructors.

6. All of my flight training was conducted by a 20 year flight instructor, an ATP who has given over 2,000 hours of instruction and has appeared in many of the King aviation videos.

7. I have flown medical mercy missions to Mexico with Liga International and in the US with Angel Flight of California.

8. None of my FAA knowledge exam scores were below 96. Private - 98, IFR - 98, Commercial - 99, Flight Instructor - 96, Fundamental of Instructing - 100, Instrument Instructor - 100.

9. I am qualified to fly 40 different kinds of airplanes, including high performance, complex, tailwheel and open cockpit biplanes.

10. For seven years I edited, wrote for and maintained the San Diego Magazine aviation website.

11. For ten amazing months I flew part 135 air tours around the Big Island of Hawai'i, and provided over 800 hours of part 141 flight instruction for the Hawai'i Flight Academy.

12. Since 2001 I have flown air tours of San Diego in open cockpit biplanes for Barnstorming Adventures, the oldest, finest and bestest airtour company in the world.

13. I am not an airline wannabe, just passing through on my way to a jetjob. Flight instruction, aviation writing and flight training writing is all I do for a living

14. Through December, 2006, I have accumulated nearly 5000 hours of flying time and, more importantly, given over 3700 hours of professional flight instruction.
